Digital Rights

Who has the right to do what concerning digital rights? This question about digital rights can have numerous grey areas in the many reactions regarding education. However, if an individual or institution correctly desires to give credit where credit is due, it requires taking the time to provide a description reference list for all areas covered.

One team tackles part of this concern with detailed research focusing on blockchain-enabled digital rights management for multimedia resources of online education (Guo et al., 2019).

Their research considers the various challenges of infringement and copyright regarding educational platforms such as MOOCs (massive open online courses) and others. The team concluded with a proposal for a completely new system to support their concept. Understanding that there can be pros and cons to such a vast undertaking, I submit that such teams take time to connect with other like-minded programs rather than building something completely new.

A second research team took the challenge even further by identifying the role of a digital citizen and what digital literacy and digital rights mean (Pangrazio & Sefton-Green, 2021). This team's research paper ties these terms together for a more precise understanding of the field of education and technology. With this blog's focus on digital rights, I understood their research to recognize it as a more legal approach for users in the technology fields of education regarding digital content, computer-generated reality spaces, etc.

One should be asking themselves: Am I a good digital citizen who adheres to proper digital rights for myself and others?
