Educator's duty to impart social responsibility to our students.
The social responsibility of educators to our students is to enhance the ethical and moral foundation that they bring to the classroom. What we teach and how we teach can vary from class to class. The honesty and decency that we weave in their hearts and minds will inevitably guide their trajectory in the classroom and in life (Gangone, 2022). This process of teaching social responsibility is an ongoing practice and should be a cyclic methodology of instruction within everyone's lifestyle.
Educational technology continues to change the landscape of how we teach and what approach is used. Moving forward with educational technology and understanding how to develop great digital citizens with being socially responsible requires setting the example and living it (Carr-Chellman & Rowland, 2017).
One common problem that I have identified as ongoing and sometimes extremely difficult is how to start a conversation with children or even adults. Focus on the Family (2022) is a Christian resource that is absolutely amazing in helping teachers, parents, and everyone in between with this and many other areas in life. If you are a teacher and need some additional Christian resources, Focus on the Family is a must-have for your teacher's toolkit.
A biblical worldview that supports a teacher’s role with social responsibilities is Proverbs 27:17. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (New International Version, 1983). We must hold one another accountable, and we must also set an example for our children to see the truth and be prepared to live it.
Are you the steel that sharpens our youth in social responsibilities?
