Digital Citizenship –What is it, and what are the standards?
(ISTE, 2021).
ISTE (International Society for Technology and Education) is the leading organization on how to teach technology to all ages of learners. Being a good digital citizen requires empowering learners (ISTE, 2018).
According to ISTE, there are five categories to be compliant with when working with the various elements of a learning institution.
Students
Attain seven standards to be ISTE compliant. Therefore, allowing them to be self-governing scholars when using the world wide web (21st Century Classroom, 2019).
Empowered Learner | Digital Citizen | Knowledge Constructor | Innovative Designer | Computational Thinker | Creative Communicator | Global Collaborator
Teachers
Attain seven standards to be ISTE compliant. These criteria facilitate their lifelong learning passion and support them as leaders when dealing with students of all ages (21st Century Classroom, 2019).
Learner | Leader | Citizen | Collaborator | Designer | Facilitator | Analyst
Administrators
Attain five standards to be ISTE compliant. These standards launch administrators to the level of the highest proficiency in comprehending and utilization of technology. Evaluating the analytics by the administrators thus supports the students, teachers, and overall learning institution (21st Century Classroom, 2019).

Technology Coaches
Attain six standards to be ISTE compliant. These standards afford the technology coaches to bridge the gap between the administrators and the teachers by supporting both elements in the student's progress (21st Century Classroom, 2019).

Computer Science Teachers
Attain four standards to be ISTE compliant. Computer science teachers can then stay on the cusp of where technology is heading and support the learning institution well in advance of their technological vision (21st Century Classroom, 2019).
Knowledge of Content | Effective Teaching & Learning | Effective Learning Environment | Effective Knowledge & Skills
Being a good Digital Citizen is a job for everyone of all ages and at all levels of education.
